Jakarta Transportation Department revealed that the purchase of 19 automatic tow trucks is predictably able to increase the city local revenue (PAD) from tow fines.

"Fine nominal for four-wheeled vehicle due to illegal parking is Rp 500,000, it applies progressive," said Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Andri, at City Hall, Friday (8/28).

Former Head of Jatinegara Sub-District explains due to the fine is progressive, the vehicle owners who late paying fines must be redeemed at a cost twice as much or Rp 1 million.

Hence, he furthered, additional 19 tow truck can help increasing the local revenue and also enforce the rules in the field, especially in illegal parking-prone areas.

"We're optimistic the fine nominal can give deterrent effect," he told.

Andri added that the tow truck is much needed to combat illegal parking. Thus far, his department already has 15 tow trucks in five cities.

"We just have 15 trucks, that's why we add its number," he stated.
